Even if they kept a Windows 7 system running for this purpose, there’s no guarentee it would be in the same state of update as your Windows 7 system or anybody else’s so that would lead to all sorts of problems and is a non-starter of an idea. Because of this, the krita developers can no longer take account of Windows 7 when they make builds and test and fix bugs. Microsoft totally stopped support (technical advice and updates) for Windows 7 in January 2020. This is a difficult situation to deal with for various reasons. I think you should try the suggestions by first to see if they help. Did you run previous versions on your Windows 7 system with no problems?
